Golden Ears Jazz Band
member:
Gale Yip

Gale Yip plays slide trombone for Golden Ears Jazz Band, and Euphonium (baritone horn) for Maple Ridge Concert Band, and is proud to call herself a happy band geek. Gale loves marches, pop medleys and swing tunes. She can often be found playing in the bandstand or goofing around in a parade. Gale would love to travel more for gigs and expose the Golden Ears Jazz Band to more venues. Unfortunately Gale’s hockey playing family that includes her husband Wayne and son Brandon, keep this family busy chasing pucks across the continent. Elder son Matthew, who is also an occasional musician with concert band, balances out the hockey-jock/music-geek family dynamic. Gale is always busy (maybe too busy?) organizing something to do with some band venue, somewhere. When she’s not making music, Gale is self-employed as an automotive dealership service consultant. When she’s not working, Gale has been known to escape on an annual Girly Getaway with her high school girlfriends where they go fun places that husbands dare not follow. With Matthew and fiancee, Raylene living in Sechelt and younger son Brandon attending Boston University hockey, this leaves poor Wayne to care for their Golden Retriever Caesar, cow-kitty Missy, and remaining cockatiel Oscar in their empty nest home. They are looking forward to a future that includes many little hockey playing musicians running around their household.
